Hey I was looking to buy a used tractor in the uk. Does anyone know of reliable websites I could look at? I have looked at gumtree and farmingads but I find it impossible to contact them on the numbers supplied. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am beginning to tear my hair out at this stage!!

Try http://www.agriaffaires.co.uk/ and put in UK in the search as the location
Go to the machinery Websites Forum on http://www.forum4farming.com/forums/ and there is lists of UK based dealers there, most of them pretty good ones.

Good luck on the quest, let us know how you get on. Why dont you try and buy one in Ireland as sometimes value is just as good if not better when you take transport costs and all that into account?

Thanks a million for your help but I was really looking to buy a tractor in the uk with the intention of reselling it here. Does anyone have any experience in using gumtree?

    Bluedoor...beware of the vat man!

if you quote a vat no to get exemption in the uk/ni you will have to quote it here when clearing the tractor.

I have a new holland here 2 years not cleared and its going to bite me in the arse when i go to clear it..

Parris machinery are the best for second hand kit, a few neighbours here in the uk have baught off the phone as he has a very good rep for buying decent kit, telling you exactly what you are getting and not sugar coating and has decent back-up. Of course you will get kit cheaper else were but thats the risk you take. Bout 3 hours from fishguard or 1 hour from bristol airport iirc

    Other wise
    Farmers weekly
    Farmers guardian iirc
    Franchise dealers like websites
    Olivers (claas)
    Farrols (JD)
    Whites agri (CNH)
    Lister wilder (AGCO)
    Occasionaly ebay.co.uk
