Do all cvj's have a locking ring on the drive shaft...mine does too but theres no groove inside the center ring.......just removed my hub and the cvj came with it.....only thing holding it together is the boot....

Do you mean the retaining ring?
Is there a groove on the shaft?

    This is from a hilux

The ring snaps open on the other side of the female spline in the CV.
There is no groove in the CV joint, only on the drive shaft.

Thanx guys...got it sorted...whoever replaced the joint last time assembled it wrong, which is why it fell out so easily...put it together after hours of head scratching and its all good now....;)
