How to change solicitor? (Family Law)

I have used a family law solicitor in the past and he has been pretty good, when I brought the case to court I got the result but not for the want of gleaming information from them. I actually thought that without the barrister there I would not have gotten the same result.

I digress, I live abroad and therefore my correspondence (since the court case) with the mother of my child is by email and they tend to be quite nasty. I then send a draft reply to my solicitor for assistance in replying. It can be a very emotive period and the emails I am receiving are quite nasty. I have in the past paid for this service. The regularity of the request for assistance from my solicitor is every four months or so.

Recently I have been chasing assistance and legal guidance in relation to my rights and how to reply to two emails and have. The first I received a vague reply not answering my queries clearly. The second email, the nastiest of the emails I received, was sent to my solicitor with a draft reply and legal clarifications. I have not received any reply from my solicitor for three weeks. When I ring he is not there. The longer I leave this email outstanding I fear the worse it will be. I am contemplating returning to court to get an additional court order for breach of terms.

How long should I keep with this solicitor? Is it easy to change? Is it easy to change within the practice. They seem like a good person but I am fighting to see my daughter and I need to focus on that.

    Thank you in advance.

You pay the bill and move on. It always amazes me how people seem to want to stick with solicitors that they feel they aren't getting value for money from.

I'm making massive assumptions here, but it doesn't seem like a complicated case. Thank your current solicitor, pay the nice man/woman and tell them where to send the file.

I am thinking of changing the solicitor within the firm as I have heard good things about that solicitor. May get messy.

I'm not sure why, most solicitors have a very good level of professionalism.
