Blocking up chimney pots.

I need to permanently close/block up two chimney pots. Fireplaces are no longer in use and are closed up.
What is the best/handiest way to do this job.
I suppose the important part of blocking them off is to stop rain getting down so maybe there is a suitable cover available that would fit neatly over the existing pot.
    Any ideas.
    Thanks.

I have closed off a few over the years for the same reason.
If you cut a circle of lead about 2 inch larger than the diameter of the chimney pot, place on top and dress the edges down the side that will seal it for you.
You could stick it down with some tec 7 but the weight of the lead will keep it there on its own.

if you want a cheaper alternative, you see lots of houses with a bit of broken slate covering the chimney - held down with a bit of cement
