For a moment, the man with the grey hair made me think it was some kind of skit. He seems a bit off.

So far I agree with that Danish one's analysis. You can't really differentiate animal products from one another, certainly in the case where they involve the death of the animal. Saying fur is murder rings slightly hollow when it's followed later in the day by a couple of chops on your plate.

The retired fur farmer could be a character in Father Ted.

That "23 year-old professional woman" came across as a total knob. First fur is trashy, and Miriam challenges her that taste is not the issue, so she then says it cruel to the animals.

I thought the top of the food chain argument was ridiculous!

Seriously throw that snappy girl in the middle of the desert or the middle of the ocean, see how long she stays top of the food chain for!

The problem with the animal cruelty is that there isn't really an agreed upon line. There's a set of lines, each with a more staunchly stern faced set of people standing next to them. From the people who believe that torturing animals like that Afghan zoo bear is wrong (the vast majority) to the people who think that keeping pets, no matter how well treated, is equally a violation of animal rights. You pick your line and proclaim that everyone on one side is misguided or a barbarian and everyone on the other side is misguided or just way too hardcore about the whole thing.

To me, at the moment, I don't condone fur garments because they're unnecessary. There's cheaper, more effective ways to clothe yourself and look stylish, I think. In the past, this wasn't always the case and fur was the best thing going for shielding your body from the elements - it was a necessity to maintain a particular standard of living.
