Recently purchased a set of rollers for the winter, just did a trial run with my garmin hooked up.

I turned the gps off, as I didn't see much point in leaving it on. Even though were I was I had gps fix.

The data that was recorded was my cadence and hrm, am I forgetting to do something to record the speed?

You don't have any speed, you haven't traveled anywhere ;).

Ha! Does the speed/cadence sensor not calculate out this also? Shur if I lost gps fix on a spin that wouldn't mean I'm not travelling?

Speed = distance over time. If you don't go anywhere then you have no speed.

If you have your cadence sensor set up right then your garmin will give you some number by which you can measure your workout, but it's not really a distance. I'd be more concerned with time spent on the rollers and doing some specific cadence drills.

It should measure distance as well. Make sure the magnet on the wheel spoke is close to the garmin sensor on the frame. It needs to no more than a couple of mm apart when it passes otherwise it won't pick up the speed. You should then see your speed and distance on your garmin device.

As above make sure magnet above passes through the area marked on the sensor and that it is very close to it. Speed will show up on display once the magnet passes the sensor.
