So i have an E46 M3 that im taking off the road next month for 6 months due to the new tax system and i need something to get me around.. Looked at vintage cars and commercials and have kinds set my mind on a hot hatch and convert it..

So im wondering would it be much hassle to convert a Clio 172??? I have a VAT number and all that and i have done a Pajero Evo before but just that its a hot hatch is there any difference??? Clio vans can be got so it should be possible yea??

    Cheers

Pajero Evo you say.....? Guy down the road from me had one a few years ago along with an E46 M3.

I dont think its a problem to convert it, but I know the regulations have changed recently....would be a cool little car.

Thought it was too much of a coincidence!

I dont think its too much hassle to convert now, I just cant remember the regulations off the top off my head.

Revenue are now well on up this & it's well frowned upon but it'll depend on the tax office when you try to register if they let you away with it. Not heard of anyone doing this in the last year. I know if grilled by the traffic cops, you could end up with more hassle than it's worth. (I know technically it'll depend on when your stopped etc) But if its taxed commerical it needs to be for commercial use only.

Yea i know this and i have 3 different business so really should be covered and 2 are pubs so open 7 days... But honestly this is the least of my worries as im not a boy racer and wont be hassling cops... It will be a legit van if i can get it done..

Just need to find out 100% if i can do it before i buy... Might pop out to my local DOE centre im sure they could tell me..

I know during better times there were labourers going around with Supra 'vans' so maybe theres such thing as a commercial 3 series out there.

...so maybe it wouldn't be beyond the realms of possibility that theres already a commercial M3 out there! Worth a thought!!

What about one with signwriting on it used for advertising for the pub?!? Maybe you could pull one off as a promotional vehicle seeing as its a sports car.

Then again maybe this post should just go into the Walter Mitty section....

With the annual doe now costing over a hundred plus the commercial tax plus higher tolls you're not far off the 2.0 ltr tax rate with extra hassle.

Get yourself a Holden Ute with a rather large V8 in it. No conversion needed.

DOE is €80 and tax is €333 which is €413 against €910... Thats a good enough saving for me anyway..

Find me a Ute for 2k, actually find me one in the country...

I think the 172 is the best of the cheap hot hatches you could use for the job... Better than a Golf GTI and i dont want a Civic... Thats all i could really find around the 2k mark...
