I'm sure I speak for the nation when I say: I'm I tired of pencils losing their points after 10 words. I'm sick of wood that flakes away in clumps when I try to sharpen the point for the fifth time in a row. I don't think I could take another point breaking off just as I finally get a usable lead.

And so I beseech you, the noble men and women of boards.ie:
What is Ireland's best value brand of pencil?

No I don't have too much time on my hands.

If you ask nicely you might get a ballpoint pen for your confirmation.

Use a harder pencil, try a H or 2H lead.

Anyway, mechanical or clutch pencils are much cleaner to use.

The real question here OP, is are you using a "pencil sharpener" or a "topper"?

The best pencils are the cheap faber castel ones that come in green, red and blue. They are better than any expensive ones

Get a good pencil sharpener, the blunt ones will always break the lead. How about a nice spring loaded desk mounted one with a handle ?

Don't forget to twist the pencil as you write so you wear the tip evenly.

you can also use sand paper instead of sharpeners

when I was teaching tech, I used to get the cheapest pencils I could find.... usually the packs of 10 for 23p in Tesco.

I used the linisher (belt sander) to sharpen them.

for SERIOUS work, then a Mechanical pencil.

I have staedler 0.5s in hb, 2h. 5h. an 7h (which is like writing with a nail!!)
