Formula 1 Documentaries

I thought it'd be nice to have a place to share some of the available docs on F1. First up, an Equinox two parter "Turbo Engines - How It All Started". A tech heavy documentary showing the first era of turbo use in F1

Another good one is "Gentlemen, Lift Your Skirts" which is all about aero tech & ground effects from the 80's

Are there any other good ones, from any era?

This is very good, watched it a couple of times in the last few years. When watching keep an eye out for a very young boffin by the name Ross Brawn.

Anyone know if there's any of the old season reviews up online? I remember a poster here had a ton of them on Vimeo before, but they're gone now. Would love to watch the 2009 one again

Hmm, not quite. That's 16 minutes long in total. The 2008 one I watched on Vimeo before it was removed for nearly three hours long :o

The link is as above, but I got it on the marketplace for £1.50 or something, & then the seller charged £1.80 for postage :)

Bought this on VHS years ago. Probably my favourite F1 doc. Ronnie Peterson became my favourite driver because of this. Tragic what happened to him and several others from that era. He surely would have won in 78 if he didn't have to play no. 2 to Andretti.

    Great thread.

The official F1 season reviews from the 80's narrated by Clive James are brilliant. 82, 84 and 86 were done by him and are hilarious. Dont get me wrong they are serious and informative but James adds a bit of his dry wit to everything.

This is a very good documentary of Jordan's 1998 F1 season.

Sorry but I can't find part 5....and thats the part that covers Spa :(

Just stumbled upon this last night.Thought it was very interesting, although its a pity about Part 5 missing. Really miss having an Irish team in F1, I was only 9 or 10 when this was made, so my memory of that time is rather hazy. But looking at that now, it's kind of crazy to see how mental things were.

You always read about the 'flamboyant' Jordan team. But to see Hill and Ralf doing photo shoots minutes before a race was a bit crazy, and on other occasions Hill being called away from discussing race strategy to either make presentations or have his picture taken with the other British drivers Mike Gascoyne was obviously pretty p***ed off looking on at that, and questioning the professionalism and focus.

That's whats made it interesting though I guess
