Holidays and notice?

    Hi,
I'm planning on handing in my notice in February next year. I'm entitled to 4 weeks paid holidays each year, and I've booked 2 weeks off in January for exams. Would I be better off taking my other two weeks paid leave before handing in my notice?

Just wondering how it works since I'll only be doing a few weeks before leaving.

If your leave year runs from Jan. - Dec. each year, and you are planning on leaving in Feb, then you are only entitled to your annual leave/6 so approx. 3.33 days in that time.

Obviously if you get time off for education that doesn't count, but you won't get four weeks paid leave if you only work two of the 12 months of the leave year.

I was in almost the same situation, i took my 20 days of holidays off already this year, then handed in my notice a few weeks ago so I would not be working for november and december,
so i owed the company 3.3 days in time back, without working back those days they would have docked my final pay!, so be careful as Stheno said if you work all of January and Febuary you will have earned 3.3 days back but be taking 10 days off, they may want this time back,

Yep, and 10 days holidays with only 3.3. is a fair chunk of pay lost.
