How to pay by visa on ebay?

I just clicked buy on an item on ebay and chose to pay by visa card. No option showed up to allow me to input my card details. It just said to complete checkout and contact the seller. I did that and contacted the seller and now he tells me to complete checkout and follow the instructions to pay by card, but now I can't go back and even if I could both ebay and the seller gave conflicting information about how to pay by visa.

Basically I have an item pending payment and I'm clicking through ebay like mad trying to find out how the hell I can make the f-n payment but I'm getting nowhere. What am I missing?

you need to register with PayPal, this is a main reason I'm not buying anything on eBay anymore.

Why not ? - the seller pays commission not the buyer. It makes life easier.
Only some retailers offer an online card facility and they tend to be commercial operations.

Because I still remember the days when you didn't need PayPal account to shop on eBay. Because of those horror PayPal stories. Because I don't like being forced to sign up to one service to use another one. Plenty of reasons.
But mostly because I don't see any benefit of using it.

You can pay using paypal without been a paypal member. -

Go to your ebay item and click on pay button - this should bring you to paypal login page .
Then at the left-hand-side , there is an option to pay using your credit card.
( without logging in / registering with paypal )

Do I need a PayPal account to pay for an eBay item?

No. You can use a credit card to pay for things on eBay if you don’t have a PayPal account.
As a PayPal guest you can use your credit card, with guest checkout, up to 15 times to pay for things on eBay.
By signing up for a PayPal account, though, you have more options when you pay.
You’ll be able to pay with your PayPal balance or — if that isn’t enough to cover a payment — you can pay directly from your bank account or use your debit or credit card.
Whatever payment method you choose, your financial information is secure. Merchants get paid but never see your bank account details or debit/credit card numbers.

Above is what Paypal say .
