Knocking an internal block wall

I'm doing a house renovation at the minute and I need to knock a wall to create a kitchen/diner.

The wall is made from 4" blocks and is not load bearing - the joists run parallel to this wall.

I had an SDS hammer drill that my dad got a few years ago from Argos (or somewhere) and had a quick go today on a small section of the wall. Basically it made very hard work of it.

Would I be better hiring a kango and consaw from a plant hire? IE. Would something like that make a better job of it?

i myself worked in building trade for many years...
depnding on how much of an opening you need...
i would say kango or sds is unneccesary...
a sledge or a decent heavy lump hammer should suffice...
kangos are a great job but are often clumsy when using above your height..
    i would recommend sledgehammer...
start at base or center of wall and work your way up..
it will take good few blows just to get first one out but when ones out it tends to losen the rest..
again for just an opening a kango will do it quicker if you attack tha joints in the blocks..
but a sledge will do same job just take a little longer..
    hope this helps
