Galaxy S2 - battery discharging really quickly.

Just recently the battery on my S2 has started lasting only a couple of hours. Took it off the charger this morning and have used it very little, and it's down to 30% already. Previously I was comfortably getting a day out of it. I did a factory reset in case it was an app doing to damage and have turned off sync altogether. Could it be the case that the battery has just come to the end of its useful like, or is there anything else I can do?

What app is using the most of the battery?
Are you using a custom ROM or kernel that could be effecting it?
If not, are you using and old version of Android? Newer versions should in theory have better battery life.

Could be the battery, replacements don't cost too much.

Before you go and buy a new battery.

Let the battery drain all the way and then give it a full charge. Try that once or twice.

A quick search on the Play Store and you will find a 'Battery Drain' app.

    Hope that helps.

The battery life thing is telling me voice calls are using most of the battery. But this makes no sense because I made one phone call today and the phone was on 80% when I got off the phone. It's now down to 28%, so 50% gone when the phone has been doing absolutely nothing.

    It's just bog standard Samsung/Three 4.1.2.

rog871 - Will try let the battery discharge fully, thanks.

Yes it could be your stats are messed up and fully discharging will set them back once you charge up again.
Occasionally on my S2 I'll get a massive instant drop in battery stats but restarting it jumps back up again.
A good indication of this is if it drops and you plug it in then restart the phone and the battery goes up in % from where it was.

You could try DU Battery Saver:
    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dianxinos.dxbs

My s2 is presently at 54% with 17hours light use. Didn't get that kinda stats before using the app.

This just happened. Was out and about, and the phone dropped down to 1% battery and then died. Just got home and plugged it in and it's immediately at 14% again.

Is the battery swollen? Mine was and it caused it to discharge really quickly. Take it out and try the spin test, if it spins freely on a smooth surface time for a new battery unfortunately.

Might be worth trying a new ROM.I can recommend a super nexus ROM for the s2. Best battery life I have found.

Just to follow up on this, letting the battery drain completely plus DU battery saver has done the trick, back to normal now. On 65% battery after charging overnight, the phone would have been dead by now before. Thanks for the help.
