I know this us he best place to request information.

About to get a note II FOC and I am currently an iPhone user. Not really into games but I do want to use the note to full potential. Would not be interested in buying apps until I get used to android over iOS. I had nexus galaxy, which I adored the screen clarity but could never fall in love with android.

I am hoping I can get some good direction and maybe convert.

Interests are browsing, photos. I believe it's a real good camera on the noteII so looking forward to having a go.

Are there updates for software I think the nexus was gingerbread or jelly bean. Can't get my head around version types. :)

    All help and advice appreciated.

Should have android 4.2 jelly bean, 4.3 is coming to it in the coming months. You won't have to spend money on apps. Most of the popular ones are free and as per ios. The only one I would pay for is SwiftKey keyboard, although the newer Google one is free and decent.

You'll appreciate the better battery life. If you want music on the go upload your iTunes library to Google music.
