Just looking for some feedback on this, was in the gym during the week and there was a lad doing cable flys.

He started at the top did a set, then moved the cables down one position did another set and so on so fourth until he reached the bottom, it was like 14 sets...My first thought was that it would really target his whole chest, followed by it was probably overkill...

What do the strength boardie's think of this?

Overkill? Great way of hitting your whole chest?

    Definitely not "strength" related :/

    Definitely a dumb exercise series.

Def not Strenght related . He prob training for hypertrophy and maxing out his chest . As far as the position chance never heard off it . he prob seen is on some stupid muscle building mag . Best way to do this is like a pec fly like your 'hugging a big tree' arms straight up at shoulders and squeeze in . Great finisher to isolate the chest and front delts

He was fairly toned in fairness, but my thought on it would be, do high, medium and low cable position to target upper, middle and lower chest would that not be better?

Also maxing out a muscle, does it have any actual benefits?

Maxing out a muscle would have benefits in trying to obtain bigger muscle look up 'Sarcoplasmic hypertrophy' this what mainly bodybuilder would do . High reps + lot of exercises focusing on a particular muscle group that day and a split routine carried out that week but size doesn't equal Strength . Strength athletes etc power lifters would be more focusing on lifting heavy . low reps high sets 3-5mins rest intervals . focusing on the bench press, dead lift , squat , press and pull . So flys would not be good for strength but would be good for bodybuilding . Hope that helps
