That's what I thought, but lad who takes them reckons one is enough, have replacement here so will just insert before she goes,

Had u replacement in your pocket?
Let one in before with one tag but got a phone call 2 come collect her again. That was a few years ago but perhaps things have laxed a bit. Bob will be along shortly to put us right.

Anyway s what happens if you let them off with one and Murphy s law it will fall off on the lorry

One tag should be sufficient as long as theyre officially identifiable, youre allowed one animal in a herd with no tags

Are you sure about this? had inspection this year and all going fine till he comes to the last batch of cows and calves - one with no tags at all - he nearly lost his stand up, weak at the knees he got, going on about how the integrety of the whole herd in Ireland was being put in jeperody with my 1 cow with no tags

I had a cow die there a while back. She had only one tag but I had the replacement in the drawer at home. Decided I might as well put it on her as no other use for it. Strange feeling tagging a dead cow.

It was a dept inspector that told me that it was ok to have one animal with no tags
It seems that some of them interpret the rules differently

lad who done my reps inspection was adamant all stock need 2 tags, seen cow with one tag and said you better get second tag in her ear before someone inspects

often wondered if ya needed to be a certain breed of gob shi#e to be an inspector because the most of them are, but then ya meet the odd one who has a totally common sense attitude to the whole thing and wondered how he ever got the job...

It would want to be a total prick if a dept guy that would refuse a one tag animal in the factory

We have had this confirmed by the dept before, 1 tag is enough for the factory but 2 tags is required for marts. This rule was changed about 3 years ago where before that 2 tags were required for both.

This makes sense as it was more than 3 years ago when I had the bother ;)
