    Hey all.

I'm building my first pc and I'm stuck on what board and cpu to get.I was looking at the asrock Z87 OC Formula or the Z87 Extreme6/ac paired with an Intel Core i5-3570k .

I have everything else I need so any suggestions or improvements on these would be great.I will be overclocking too.
Id be looking to spend about €500 for both

They arent compatible, you need to change either the motherboard to a Z77 equivalent or the CPU to a I4XXXK

    Ok if i move to a i7 4770K and drop my board price to a Fatal1ty Z87 Professional or Fatal1ty Z87 killer ?

For €500 you could buy an i7 4770k with a good board and a top end air cooler.

    Fair enough. More information needed.

What's it going to be used for?

Will you be using dual graphics cards at any stage?

No point spending more than you need.

Its mainly gaming. Ill be running 7970 ghz edition for the moment but I would like the option to install a second one down the line if I need it.

Well a 4670k will perform identically in most games. The 4770k will be a bit more future proof and offer some performance boost in a few newer titles but I'm not convinced it's worth it for gaming.

No need to go crazy with the board choice either. There's nothing those €200+ boards can do from what I've seen that the cheaper boards can't also do. Something like this has virtually all of the same features for a fair bit less.

With Fatality boards you're paying for the name.

I was looking at the extreme 6 first paired with a 4670k. They were selling as a combo Should I just stick with that set up paired with gskills sniper DDR3-2133 8gb ?

Go for the extreme 6 if you want. It's a good board but I don't know if it's worth €30 more than the 4.

From what I can see the only difference is 2 extra sata ports and better vrm cooling. I don't think the vrm's will be the limiting factor in overclocking Haswell's anyway unless you're using very high end water or better cooling.

To be honest there are a lot of good boards in that price range so if you prefer a certain brand go for it. You're going to end up with similar results on any of them.
