Found those guys pretty poor tbh. Told me he had Grade B1 tyres at 35 notes each (215x45x17) but when I got to the depot the tyres were actually worse than I was taking off. To rub salt in he then tried to flog me winter tyres.

There's a great guy in Navan called Tyre Hanger. Got two Continental Sports 2 off him with 8 mill of thread on each for 80 bucks fitted. They were honestly like new.

Be careful with the date on the tyre this is very important the ammount of thread is one thing the date is the other tyres have a life cycle like, they may look ok but some of these 35 euro tyres are way beyond there date as they have sat on cars in lots for years before scrapping .The rubber cracks and is prone to blowouts on the side wall . Save money on tyres and loose on repairs or worse I bough them before for a volvo was told by a friend with a garage to check the date and tyre for cracks they were out of date by 4 years I removed them and replaced them .

Yeah its a good point. There's a date code in an oval on the side of the tyre with 4 numbers in it. The first two represent the week they were made and the second two the year. So for example, 2412 would mean manufactured on the 24th week of 2012.

Happily the ones I bough were made in 2012.

yea theres nothing worse than having bad rubber under you when driving at speed or with kids loved ones in the car , and you with the nagging voice in the back of the head going the tyres might burst .

Make sure you get good value tyres, not cheap ones. People driving around with cheap tyres with reduced/no grip make me sick, also people driving round with worn tyres past the safe limit.

Is it worth the price if you can't stop in time and knock down a small child?

Anywhere good southside, preferably between City centre and Dun Laoghaire?
