Can I take the theory test @ age 16?

I was wondering if you can take the theory for category B @ 16 ? My 17th birthday is at the mid term and I wanted to get a head start in getting ready by taking it early before I start. ie. take out the waiting time etc

AND if not, how long does it usually take to get the theory test booked and done?

Yes you can. Theory test cert lasts 2 years from date you sit test

Yes, you can. But you won't be able to apply for a learner permit until you're 17. Just make sure you don't lose your pass certificate if you do pass the test before being 17.

One more thing to note: the pass cert lasts for only a certain amount of time (I believe it is 2 years), so make sure you don't forget to apply for the learner permit as soon as you hit 17 years of age.

I can't tell you why

You can get the Theory test done at 16yoa. You can even get your application in for the learner permit before your 17th birthday. They just won't issue it until you turn 17.
