Hi,I have a Ford Focus 06 LX .I went to open it with fob yesterday, but it didn't work..I thought it may have been fob battery,so I changed it,but it still didn't work.I opened with the key [its a keyless entry ] tried to start it but nothing,No dash lights, nothing.I jump started it today, and now it wont detect the passive key..I have tried resetting as per manual, but it wont work.Any information would be great.I am also wondering why the battery drained overnight as there wasn't anything left on....

It's very possible you are suffering a not uncommon fault with the ford focus petrol models in that, you may have moisture in the fuse box above the LH front passenger footwell. Worth dropping it down to check if there's any moisture in that area.
I have had experience of this causing all sorts of strange faults including the faults you mentioned.
Check it out and let us know.!!

the cause of the battery drain overnight is a well know fault with the ignition barrel assembly, there is a modified one for it , .this fault is only on the keyless entry model focus

I have the car since March. This is the first time it has happened. Why does it happen. Is the modified a fix? and if it is,is it expensive?

there is a micro switch in the assmebly which goes faulty and leaves the dash display lit up all night whick causes the drain , price for new assmebly is somewhere between 3/400 .if if keeps draining your battery get this checked first it may save you some time

I just went out there now,the radio light and message centre were lit.I didn't bring any key ....I checked a second time and the dash lights were not on.Would it behave like that with the micro switch fault?
