No. It will only apply to new BTEA applicants in 2014/2015 academic year.

Hi. I'm currently getting the JSA at €144 a week, I'll be 25 next August. Would I get €188 turning 25 considering I'm a current claimant? Is it only new claimants under 26 that get €144?

Also am I right in thinking that if I were to get a short term job, say a few weeks and go off the JSA, that if I were to go back on it I would only get €100 until I turn 25? Would reapplying class me as a new claimant?

The removal of the phone allowance for pensioners is an attack on the elderly -
it was a social contact for those less able, it kept them secure, many use it for their hope alarm, for medical monitoring services
I have heard people suggest would they be save money to get a mobile? the age profile who find it difficult to use and understand mobile technology!
means test the phone allowance if they want to save a few bob, but a blanket taking away of such an allowance is disgraceful

actually the hike in charges for prescriptions is another callous attack on the ill and aged

Abolition of €20 long-term unemployment bonus paid to FAS, VTOS and
    Youthreach participants.
The payment of this allowance goes back to a time of full employment when
there was a concern to incentivise the long-term unemployed to engage with
labour market activation efforts. This payment will end for new entrants and
will save €2.1 million in 2014 and €6.7 million in a full year. However, course
participants will continue to receive meal and travel allowances.

Does that mean CE rates are only 188 from January onwards?

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

Jeepers that is really SAVAGE...... A lot of people working on these Fas
Courses are people with disabilities and doing them more to keep body n soul together than expecting to get a job out of it.

I doubt it, as CE now comes under the DSP and getting people on it and the other schemes like tus, gateway etc etc help massage the 'live' unemployment figures.

mango salsa where did you get that info/quote, I can't find it in the fact sheet.
