New car owner - Tax question

    Hi,

    So I bought a car on donedeal last week. I'm just waiting to receive log book. My question is the tax has been out on car since June. Its insured and has nct. My question is what way legally am I positioned if a Guard stopped me driving it? Should I just wait until I receive log book? I will tax it straight away its just I was hoping to drive to Dublin today.

    All depends on the Garda.
    If you can show you just bought the vehicle, there is a big chance he will let you go.
    But there is nothing stopping him to summons you for driving untaxed vehicle.

    You don't have to have the log book to tax a car!
