Hi. Our company lease car is up for a change soon. In order to satisfy accounts last time round we downsized from a golf 1.9tdi to a polo 1.6tdi. We would like to go back to mid sized. Are there any mid sized cars that are worth a look that are also good value. Also is there an online source that gives an up to date price guide across all makes and models?

Opel Astra would be a very good value alternative to going back to Golf. The prices of the latest Golf are shocking in my opinion.

Mazda 3 Sport SE 1.6D? Worth at least taking one for a spin.

What about the Koreans? If you can afford a Golf (possibly) an i40 should be in your range. Could nearly get a Kia Optima for the price of a well specced Golf

Thanks guys. New Golf is a bit on the expensive side alright. Open to all suggestions, the Koreans are pretty nice, pity they have gone up in price. What are the best value cars in that segment at the minute. I reckon price will have to fall somwhere between the polo and golf diesels.

Partner looking into new cars there and I was very surprised at the (high) prices for the Ceed and i30. No real bargains anymore.

Have you thought of the Mondeo? I know it's out a while now but Ford doing it for €23,950 for the base (which is not too badly specced, especially coming from a VW). I think it's cracking value and a lot of car for the money and very competitent.

Sounds like good value.Must take a look at the Mondeo. Yes the Koreans seem to have up-ed their game and also their prices.
