    Hi there,

I would like to request my meter to be read. I live in an apartment block with a communal meter area, can cannot always access this. Would it be possible for someone to come and read it. ?

Also, my bills have been estimated for quite some time. If it turns out from the reading that my usage is significantly overestimated, am I entitled to a refund ?

    Thank you

    Hi ror_74,

ESB Networks, which operate separately to Electric Ireland, are the people who read the meters on a scheduled basis. They aim to read a meter four times per year, and the remaining two bills are based on estimates.
If more than two bills are estimated, this would likely be due to ESB Networks being unable to access the meter. In those cases, we would advise customers to contact their landlord/lady or property agency to arrange access to the meter, so that ESB Networks will be able to read it when scheduled, and so that the customer can send in their own readings. Details on submitting a customer reading here.

In the case of a bill that is over-estimated and paid, a subsequent meter reading will result in a bill whose total will be reduced by the over-payment of the previous bill.

    Regards,
    Una
