    Hi everyone,

I'm looking at buying my first road/racing bike (male) an just wondering if anyone has any suggestions on what a good bike might be? My budget would be around 1000 euro I'm doing ye bike yo work scheme. Any help greatly appreciated.

Giant Defy 2 is a great bike.
The 2014 model has a few upgrades from the 2013 model. The model itself consistently wins prices for bike of the year for the €1000 price mark.
    http://www.bicycling.com/bikes-gear/bikes-and-gear-features/best-entry-level-road-bike-giant-defy-2 .. for example.

I have the 2013 model and it's great.

You'll get better deals online with Canyon and Rose bikes, but with some Dublin bike shops offering free life time servicing, there's good reason to buy in shop.

    That's my 2 cents anyway.

I was in the same boat last month, I went for the Cube Peloton Race. I got it for €1,100 (The Edge, Cork) and comes with Shimano 105 'stuff' - sorry I'm still not all down on the various tech talk:D
So I put €100 to it and the bike to work scheme did the rest, must admit I love the bike, so glad I went for a road bike over a hybrid/commuter bike. It's so effortless cycling it.
