Hi guys, Just looking for a bit of advice please.

I built a media pc a few years ago that my son also uses for gaming, Gta, Dirt, Fifa etc. Its used on a 42" plasma tv about 6 years old.
What would my money be best spent on upgrading as its gone a bit slow?
Would gaming be far better on a monitor?
Is my ram set at the correct speed?, Should I look into overclocking?
    Im no expert!

    Current setup is

Board: ASUSTeK Computer INC. P5G43T-M PRO Rev X.0x
    Serial Number: MT709BK16800979
    Bus Clock: 333 megahertz

    2.50 gigahertz Intel Core2 Quad Q8300 @2.5 ghz

SAMSUNG HD103UJ [Hard drive] (1000.20 GB)
WDC WD15EADS-00P8B0 [Hard drive] (1500.30 GB)

    NVIDIA GeForce GT 240

    Memory Type: DDR3 PC3-10600, DDR3 (non-ECC)
    Maximum Memory: 8GB
    Currently Installed Memory: 4GB
    Total Memory Slots: 2

    Thanks

New video card would go a long way. Check what model PSU you have. Worst case scenario, you can upgrade to a 7750 or 7770, which would be light years ahead of a GT240, which is an antique by todays standards. CPU and RAM are still relatively fine.

The psu is a Antec TP 550, 550 watts. What sort of card would this handle?
