Want to get another batch of turbo cider going so it'll be nice and ready for X-mas

I have some yeast left over from the summer, the youngs Super Wine stuff. It says use within three months of opening.

I'd say its been in the fridge for about 4 months now...will i give it a go or just get some fresh stuff?

Should be fine. Maybe try and make a starter with it? I have some yeast in my fridge that I washed 10 months ago and it's still grand (I used it to make a starter over the weekend which is now fermenting a batch of turbo cider very nicely indeed.)

I dont think it's worth the gamble - how cheap is yeast like!

There's no down side if you go with a starter.

    Sorry for the late reply...

What do you mean exactly by a starter?

Let's say you're making cider. Take an empty 2L plastic bottle, add 1L of apple juice + yeast. Shake like crazy for a bit then leave the top loosely on. Wait 24-48 hours. You'll see it's working away. That's the starter. Add that into more or less anything and it'll start up a brew very quickly.
