GW 8 Captain

Lukaku is leading the FFS poll, although I'm still looking at Suarez. Hull have been strong at the back recently but the Belgian did bang in a brace over the weekend though so he's the in-form striker and seems like a safe choice for the armband this week. Dzeko and Giroud also bagged a brace, and Rooney scored against Montenegro. Oh and lets not forget RVP's hat-trick as Holland demolished Hungary, this should bring him back onto peoples radars.

Suarez faces Newcastle who have one of the worst defensive records in the league, and unless I'm mistaken the elbow biter will have had a rest over this international break? He should be raring to go, and will be about even money to score anytime. Sturridge and Rooney will be about the same. Lukaku and RVP will be slightly odds on, 4/5 or 5/6. Surprisingly enough, going by the early bookies prices Giroud is most likely to score at 4/7 (Boyles). And if you fancy a punt on a differential, Michu is about 6/5 to score at home to Sunderland, who have the worst defensive record in the league.

Suarez has 2 games over the break and plays argentina tuesday night/wed morning . He will have less recovery time than most other players and a long flight back. Unlike a lot of other players though in that situation he will definetly start.

Yeah just saw he played, was hoping it was just European teams in action. Lukaku might be a better shout now, hopefully he's rested tomorrow night as Belgium have already qualified.

Ozil or lukaku at the minute. However I may transfer in rvp and give him the armband.

Suarez played 90 mins for Uruguay on Friday Night & Will play again on Tuesday(Wednesday morning really) against Argentina .

Rooney home to Southampton is a no brainer.

I don't see a repeat of the WBA performance from Manchester United

I'm struggling to decide between Giroud and Lukaku. Will probably go for the latter. This is the first GW I'll have had him on my team, so hoping the form doesn't drop now.

I'm happy that I have so many superb captain choices this GW. Probably Lukaku for me.

Do Belgium have a game tomorrow night? Hopefully he's not injured or in need of a rest this weekend.

They do , They're already qualified so it means nothing .

He's the only fit striker in their squad (Benteke won't be risked) so I'd say he'll play .

    Possibly.

I know Mirallas played up front a few times for them.

    Hopefully rested!

The way Southampton have been defending this season, I wouldn't say its a no brainer by any means. They have only conceded 2 all season I think. So even though I think Manyoo will beat them, I doubt it will be a big scoreline.

That said, I am having an awful season so any advice I give is best off disregarded!!

I think I will go with Ozil for captain fwiw.

I'll take a captained Goal and 3 BPS from Rooney - snap your hand off for 16 right now! :D

between Giroud and Lukaku I'll probably toss a coin

RVP all the way. Hat-trick the other day and assuming he gets through the next game then it's the obvious choice I think

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,710 ✭✭✭✭Paully D

Colocinni is also likely to be out for those considering Liverpool captaincy options. I have four strong options for the captaincy in Ozil, Lukaku, Sturridge and Rooney.

    I'll probably go with Lukaku.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,305 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Prodston

I have Rooney, Lukaku, Suarez, Ozil and Michu. In any other week the remaining 4 would be decent options and I have no idea which one to go for yet. It's one of the best complaints I've had so far this season though :pac:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,600 ✭✭✭roryc

I have the same 5 players. It should mean a good week for us. But it probably won't.

    Michu at home to Blunderland.

    Woops

Planned on Rooney home to Southampton but didn't see Arsenal at home to Norwich

Giroud could be a decent differential so might plump for him instead

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 714 ✭✭✭jma

I was planning to go with Giroud, but I'm a little bit worried about him. France scored 7 goals in the WC qualifiers, but Giroud got 0 of them and 0 assists. He played 171 mins in 2 games.

He'll have better supply line at Arsenal!

    They'll get chances against Norwich

Ramsey may be another option. He scored a goal on Courtois against Belgium on Tuesday.

I went for Ramsey, but could move it to Giroud.

Options are Lukaku. Suarez, Sturridge, Michu, Ozil and will probably go with Lukaku.

I always go with a home captain.

    Golden rule of FPL

Currently Ramsey, had not considered Lukaku until now.

Sticking with Ramsey though, gut feeling, first choice and all that.

Snap. Have them 5 myself and have the armband on Lukaku. I also have Oscar but there is a doubt over whether he'll start. I'll be unlikely to take the armband from Lukaku. Obvious choice and all that.......

    This.

Giroud got a header deflected in yesterday so that's 1 assist. He's also not the main target upfront with France. Not yet at least...
He also scored 2 in 45 min last Friday against Australia.
So it's not like he's in bad form.

Yeah exactly, it's true they scored 7 in last 2 qualifiers but the first of those was September 10th so I'd consider the Australia friendly more relevant for current form

I have to disagree with that being a golden rule. It might be a good safe option but off the top of my head I can remember captaining Suarez and Cazorla away from home last season when they both got hattricks against Norwich and Reading.

That was a glorious night for FPL. I can't remember if I had him as captain or not, I think I did though. He got 4 that night didn't he?

Trying to decide that one myself.

Would you rather a supply line of Leon Osman, James McCarthy, Ross Barkley and Gareth Barry

    Or

    Mesut Ozil
    Aaron Ramsay
    Santi Cazorla
    Jack Wilshere
    Theo Walcott

    ?????

That's what you have to ask yourself

Loads of options but have gone with lukaku. Was giving serious consideration to terry.

All week liong, Lukaku was my captain.

Now Coloccini is ruled out, I have to really consider Suarez.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,589 ✭✭✭✭Necronomicon

In my Giroud vs. Lukaku debate, I think I'm going to stick with the latter. Arsenal having an eye on Dortmund on Tuesday is pushing me that bit further. I'd be worried about Giroud not playing 90 minutes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,600 ✭✭✭roryc

I'm hoping Giroud and Ramsey are rested this week. And Yaya, why not...

    You dont ask for much!

Cant imagine Giroud being rested anyway. Actually cant imagine any of them being rested.

Anyway, Im between Ozil and RVP for captain.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,141 ✭✭✭Santi101

    No way Giroud is rested.

I just have this feeling, that if I switch from Ramsey to Lukaku or Giroud then he (Ramsey) will go on the rampage against Norwich.

stick with your gut, stick with your gut.

Bendtner has been on fire for Denmark though, as Swiper has been telling us :pac:

Has to be Lukaku @ home to Hull. Everton have been on fire this seaon, and are chomping at the bit. Unlucky to lose 3-1 to City so he's the man for me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,141 ✭✭✭Santi101

Swiper is welcome to bring Bendtner in if thats the case.

He scored a few headers but was rubbish in general play, couldnt trap a bag of cement that lad. Bendtner will start the league cup vs chelsea in a few weeks. At best he'll get sub minutes in the prem/champs lge if we are chasing a goal.

I'm really tempted to hit Giroud with the captaincy this week...Sturridge is my other option but it seems almost too obvious! Not arsed with rooney, ozil etc.

Well yeah he was joking alright :pac:

Giroud would make sense alright, and it may be the first gameweek this season that Turner doesn't play for me which tells you something in itself. Although I could put Kos on the bench yet. It's a week with lots of options and we'll end up being split, bar those with RVP.

Rooney's one of those players when he's at home you almost have to captain him. Have Giroud and Ramsey but in terms of proven ability it's very rare Rooney wont do something when at home regardless of the team he's against.
