Just looking through the forum and i havent seen much on shorts.

What do you recommend for 70-100km cycles on a hybrid.
I currently use altura progel and a pair from sportsdirect and was thinking of changing to chamois style ones..

I find the progel ones pretty good. Slow to change from them, although I'm sure there are other opinions on them around here

Lots of people saying using assos cream helps to ease soreness but can you use it with progel shorts.

I have a pair of Altura Progel shorts that i use for long spins and I use shorts with regular coolmax padding on shorter spins. I know there are much more expensive shorts available but I cant fault the progels, I find them very comfortable.

Buy assos or Udderly smooth chamois cream if your finding them uncomfortable on longer spins (probably best go for assos as udderly is thinner and may not last the distance)

I've done cycles up to 130k in the progel shorts and no problem. I've never used any sort of creme etc.
As long as they fit comfortably and stay in place, that's the main thing

Thanks. I have to get used to been in the saddle too. I'm still making small adjustments. will the cream effect the progel in any way. My aim. Is to cycle a bit of the cycle against suicide trip with a reasonable avg speed.

I dont use the cream that often but when i do i put it on my skin only even though it is advised to put it on the pad too. It does no harm to the pad as far as I know.

Cheers. I'll give it a go and do a few extra shorter spins when I can to get used to.the saddle.

Depends, between 5 hours and 5 and a half hours so far, not including a food stop. Started my 2013 cycling last March doing a 40k spin, and been increasing ever since. Take your time building up, can't beat putting the kms into the legs. Pace yourself

I've only ever used cream once when cycling over cobbles for a few hours. I'm not sure that I even needed it then to be honest as I find that the short pad is enough. Even after a circa 300km cycle I had no pain in that region. I genuinely don't know what the attraction is with it or why I don't need it for that matter!
