Broken spoke?

    Hi folks,
Sorry if this question has appeared before. How much does it cost to replace a broken spoke and sort out a slight buckle in the wheel? Does your LBS stock spokes for the bikes that they stock? I won't mention the type of bike cos the last time I did that I got a very 'mature' response from another poster. Thanks in advance for your help.

€5 The last time for me. Most bike repair shops will have a selection that should fit. Unless you have hit something the wheel should be true again after the spoke is tensioned.

Cheers Victor thanks for that. They don't have a spoke so I'm going to miss 2 or 3 days of cycling as a result. It wouldn't bother me too much if the weather was bad but its great weather at the minute for the time of year. Spare wheels or a spare bike would solve the problem I suppose, but that option is a bit too costly for me. I honestly thought it was a case of dropping the wheel in and picking it up about an hour later. Ah well, I hope the good weather remains and I can squeeze a few extra runs in this week.

Ring a few different shops. Unless its tubulars you have it is a five minute job, 10 mins at most if the gears have to be removed. Try to borrow a wheel in the meantime.

Cost me €10 from LBS recently. Same day job, spoke replaced and wheel trued perfectly.

Thanks for the replies folks. I borrowed a wheel for this morning and what a beautiful morning it was. I would've been really p*ssed off if I had missed todays run.

its generally €15-€20 in the shop for a buckled wheel

if the wheel was true before the spoke snapped should only be €10 but if it was buckled before hand it'll be up around 15-20 in anywhere half good
