White ford transit van 03LH**** GOING AROUND TRYING TO ABDUCT CHILDREN,up on Facebook earlier and last attempted abduction in the Donaghmede area where someone thwarted an attempted abduction of a child and garda notified.

It was widely documented community folklore in Belfast during the troubles to distil the fears of either community to a spectral white car or van (whether a Loyalist, Republican or SAS vehicle) seen in respective areas at the time of atrocities.

Maybe white is simply a blank mental canvas on which to represent simplistic folk terrors.

Social networking can be over the top with people posting utter useless crap about themselves or taking pictures of what they had for dinner :pac: But it's said that information can spread in minutes these days thanks to it.

So who knows. Maybe some poor child avoided the horrific fate thanks to the outburst of comments.

Maybe, but the sceptic in me finds it hard to believe that there are 2-3 attempted abductions by 'foreign men' in vans country wide every day. It feels like scaremongering to me.
