    Newstalk

It will be on a pod cast I guess - so worth listening to - Terry Prone in action. The PR swing on the comeback. :).

Twas awful. Bad interviewer tip toeing around him. Shame mcdevitt wasn't there to push him on his poor form.

Even the listeners' questions were obviously vetted. "What shampoo do you use?" Fup off!

And have him say what exactly that he hasn't already said? Rory has been openly honest about his poor season. His game is off, he needs to fix it. That's golf.

Agree with that... what a stupid question.

Sample of questions put to Rory:

    - is winning a major like scoring a goal?
    - would you rather Ulster win h cup or man u win league?

I thought he only touched on his poor form...didn't push him on how he's trying to address the problems.

At one stage he asked Rory "do you go back to Nike and tell them, when I swing at this speed, the ball goes there, but when I swing at that speed, the ball goes here".

He was either intentionally dumbing it down for the masses or doesn't have a clue about golf.

    Yes tame enough,

I think the older crew would have been better on that. But, always an uncertain attitude towards golf on off the ball.

Seemed a poor interview, or lets say controlled - in other words the questions were fully given to him in advance (from a friend, this is not unusual with top stars). But, Rory doing an interview in Ireland is a must listen to for us.

I said a long time back (just at Nike deal), I loved it when Rory was just the raw kid who played golf, bubbly, innocent, said what he thinks.
It would be great if he could be like that again, but that is unrealistic now. Big stars become , big, and a bit detached. Look , I don't know the bloke, but was a bit shocked to see the whole Irish Open entourage - felt a bit for him , so many people around him, almost pulling out of him when walking to ball.

Ah , shouldn't feel too bad for him , he has 100 odd million in the bank :), doesn't have to go into work and get **** all day with no thanks.

    About Time 25:00.

It seemed there were certain area's that were Out of Bounds for the interviewer but all in all it was good to hear him on Irish airwaves and hopefully he can get a win before the year is out.

Good to hear him and I suppose we can be thankful that Terry didnt set it up with her son to do the interview.

    No way,

It is such an inner circle in Ireland.

It is such an inner circle in Ireland.

The 3 of them are all involved with their PR company "The Communications Clinic".
Some may think that the Chairman of RTE owning/running a PR company may be a slight conflict of interest.
A quick search of the Journal or the likes will give you a few interesting reads.

I thought it was a good interview, an i aint a big Mcilroy fan, think he gives up too easy, think it was ger gilroy doing the interview, the creator of off the ball, for the time he had he got a lot in, asked about the club change, the dip in form, swing issues, which mcilroy answered, don't know what people wanted," well Rory what's the story on the clubs been rubbish, the fall out with horizon, u an gmac not been BFF, u an the chick on the ropes", that's just been a knob head asking them questions, not the publics business, he is a golfer not a bloody question dodging politician, I actually felt a bit sorry for him, he talked about how his life had changed for good as he knew it, an not necessarily for the better, but that's the way it is now.gilroy ask that aswell

Have we not heard him talk about his club change and dip in form all year. We know what his answer will e to those questions.

I would have liked to hear him asked are him and McDowell friends, is he speaking to a psychologist about his mental side of the game, does he plan on doing anything different next season schedule wise and what's his plan for the winter to try regain his consistency.
