what would happen if a giant black hole sucked in the Earth

Imagine looking up one day and seeing a giant black hole about to suck in the place. It'd be mental. Would anything survive the intense gravitational forces? What is beyond the event horizon? Would we be transported via a wormhole to somewhere else in the universe? Mad stuff altogether.
