Hey, can someone please tell me if there is parking on the Cork side of the trails? Where would a good place to park be? Ideally we are looking to do the back end of the White/Blue/Red without the need of doing to journey from the trail centre to that these trails.

    Thanks

Not that I know of. Don't see why you would bother start of trails nearly in cork as it is and no hassle to get to

How do you mean? Well from my POV, getting to the log takes 50 mins from the car park, then getting back in takes 40 so that's 1.5 hours at my pace...

What I'd love to be able to do is park up in some back road on the cork side, flake in be able to spend more time getting to know the fat side of the Forrest...

There are other carparks on the northern side, but I have already paid for my year's entry to the trailhead so I feel no guilt about utilising the trails without hitting the Green. I know of people that use the alternate parks specifically to avoid paying for the trailhead carpark, and I detest that behaviour - which is why I'm loath to give directions to the alternate parks.

The fireroad from the parking area to the north links up with the lower side of the White, so it's possible to do only the White loop.

I couldnt agree with you more about the attitude of avoiding the trailhead car park to avoid paying the entry fee...I mean €35 for a year is pretty much free for what you are getting in return... I got my pass last year and renewed it this year, and between ballyhoura and walking the dog in curraghchase id say iv used the card 30+ times...

Like I said though, all we ever do is start at the trailhead and do the brown with a bit of the white... only last week was the first time we did the full white... we were just discussing on the way back that surely there is some way to park up on or near the cork side and hope onto the start of the white/blue/red... its tough to head from the car park as you are looking at 4/5 hours for a loop...

Fair enough about the not giving directions thats understandable... Il have to dig out the OS map and try figure it out
