Such a vast space left idle much akin to the South Pole. Scary but a place of refuge in manys the war the modern attic should scream guest room or man den. Do why is there such a reluctance in using possibaly the largest space in the house for nothng.
Iv even written an ode about it
"Attic static I stare into your abyss.
    Christmas tree tinsel annual visit.
Soon your cold airless re birth I give
    thee.

Eight ball drinks fridge and 42" Tv."
So why in this day of age do ee neglect to have our attic made into a room when buying a property.
Its like using 2/3 or your investment such a waste.
Whats in your attic or have you converted.
Should future houses have an attic as a room as standard

Question A only for property owners only.

The rafters, man, the rafters! In the bungalow where I grew up in, the rafters are set up so awkwardly that you can only stand up fully in the centre of the attic, with about 1.5 feet on either side of you.

What was Anne Frank's favourite hiding place?

Well, she only had one, so it's unlikely she was able to pick a favourite.. ..

My attic doesn't exist any more for property tax purposes.

I have an under the stairs.

It always confuses people who come to my house that I have an under the stairs. If they ask where did I put their coat I tell them under the stairs. Blank looks all around.

Perhaps it's because I don't have stairs, but what else would you call that little cupboard. It's the under the stairs.

I have no idea what is up beyond our ceiling. Am waiting for my three year old to grow up and go exploring up there.

How tall are you expecting him to get?

Just strong enough to haul the ladder from the shed and tall enough to climb up it and man enough to see the job through.

I had an "under the stairs" too when I lived in an apartment.
It's the only logical thing to call that place.

We call that little press the west wing.

As for the attic, piled high with boxes of crap I'd love to turf out but the hoarder in me won't.

Attics are a strange place, we're all taught that heat travels up so the first thing we do is build the most flammable bonfire above our heads "rite that's that room all cleaned out, what do you want to do with these bags of clothes?, ahh put them up in the attic"

All ours goes into the attic for mass storage until we have enough gathered to have one big needy day give away, ohhh the joy it brings to my heart seeing the needy with all their new clothes.

I want to have a man cave once I have the money and cleared it out, ergo I'll never have a man cave

I call it the downstairs bog. 'Cos that's what I fitted there. Modern attics are crap, but - hardly room for owt in them.

My attic is huuuuge. A few people in my estate have put 2 or 3 decent bedrooms up there!

Are you sure your attic isn't just your upstairs?

Don't have an attic, not a fan of the wasted space and angled walls, instead have a green roof which is almost flat.

Well if it is, the builders forgot to finish it :(

It's really cool the way it's done in the other houses. It's a 4 bedroom bungalow but three of the bedrooms are teeny tiny, there's also a tiny courtyard type thing that gives light to the two smallest bedrooms, so what others have done is, taken the courtyard out and put in a stairs. Then they have broken through from the two bigger bedrooms, into the smaller ones to give massive bedrooms plus the two or three which are now upstairs!
