BBC radio one played Fairytale of New York today in tribute and it's now trending on twitter. I know Pogue fans would probably pick a different song, but it is their most famous track and the "why the fook are they playing this in October" tweets are funny.

    RIP

I posted this on the "best punk band ever" thread on 18/4/12 and I just heard on the radio a few minutes ago.
    R.I.P. Phil Chevron.

Nah, this won't be topical enough at Christmas for that to happen.

You see these threads now and then on boards, but never do you think it will be about your relative.

From myself (his niece) and on behalf of all of Phil's family I would like to thank everyone - both here and elsewhere - for all their messages of love, support, condolences and for sharing their memories of Phil. At such a hard time it means a lot to see how many people loved and admired him. We will dearly miss him as, no doubt, so many of his friends and fans will too.

    xxx

    Thousands are wailing

One of the musical giants taken from us far too early.
I had the pleasure to pogo along to his masterworks in my youth.
    Nights never to be forgotten.

    May he R.I.P.

Condolences to his family, friends and band colleagues

Moves are taking place to replace the goal music at Nottingham Forest with Fiesta by the Pogues in tribute to the late great Phil Chevron, I really hope this happens. Some tribute to a great musician and proud Forest fan.

    RIP Phil.
