OK, so I was having a look at the Gulf States newspapers, and some of the bat**** crazy things that happen there. Especially the utter cruelty meted out to people deemed to have "Insulted Islam" or "Insulted Religion" or "Insulted Morality".

Anyone who follows the news will have from time to time seen the executions and punishment of people for supposed blasphemy crimes in Islamic states, often utterly insane and barbaric.

But long as you are not stupid enough to go to the Arab nations, to do anything other than earn your tax free money, then sit statue still and breathe (quietly) you will be safe enough and not find yourself in a Kafkaesque nightmare.

I mean, here in the Decadent West, with our Free Speech, we can sit here on the internet and discuss it. Even criticise. Right ?

The worst that happens on boards.ie, is that a couple of sad posters stalk your postings and call you names, thank anyone who disagrees with you, PM their gang to get involved, or slyly PM the mods to complain about you. Sticks and stones and all that.

Thats the WORST that could happen.

    Right ?

    Wrong.

The Arab world is drawing up new Blasphemy laws to allow the prosecution ofnon-nationals, not actually even resident in their countries.

The main feature of the draft is that it gives every state the right to put on trial those who abuse and hold in contempt religions even if they are outside the country,” Ebrahim Mousa Al Hitmi, the Qatari justice ministry assistant undersecretary for legal affairs, said, local Arabic daily Al Arab reported on Wednesday.

Therefore, the main goal of this law is to deter all forms of defamation of religions and give each country that ratifies it the right to file lawsuits against those who offend religions, even if they are not residents

So, what of a future, where Religious Nutjobs can demand your extradition to their country to put you on trial, because you dare to say something they don't like, even if it is not insulting or malicious, in a foreign country where you are supposed to have free speech.

Scary thought. But it won't happen on boards anyway, they demand what's known as a section 8 before they'll release your details. And your average extremist won't be able to obtain one.

This is the third thread about Arabs/Islam you've started today. I reckon you'll be one of the first to be extradited.

    Hmm ....

Big arms deal in the offing ?

Massive order of European Aviations flagship A380s ?

A major oil deal stalling ?

The odd individual has always been expendable when two countries have a multi billion doller deal to thrash out.

I'll look for a connection in Israel just to really piss them off.

They would never be able/allowed to enforce it.

    Arrogance beyond belief.
