need help lighting old gas fireplace

    Sorry i forgot to add the pictures to show my situation :)

    being a girl i dont know much about the fire but as far as I know it isnt broken, I just dont have a clue how to light it!!

    ive cleaned it
    turned on gas valve to allow gas in but fails to light

    The controls for that fire are at low level and behind the guard but to be quite honest i would recommend you ask to see the current gas cert or if not available get a Registered Gas Installer to check it over before you use it, this type of fire is an opened flue appliance and can be lethal.

    Personally! i'd rip it out.

    You might as well get a bundle of €50 notes and light them. More efficient to get it removed and stick a chimney baloon up the chimney.
