    You'll need a UK card.

You should be able to just reset it, sticking the irish card back in though will force it to revert back to rte 1 at 101.

the bbc regional channels are up at the 950s i think.

In olden days you could with the power off put any card in like a bank card or phonecard and then power up while holding the select button and it would reset to UK, unsure if this works with new boxes.

The newer boxes are hard to reset. the uk card trick is the best but on a few boxes when I did the software update procedure, ie unplug and hold power button, plug back in still holding power button and wait and wait until updating software message appears and I would do it with the card in box upside down.

Yes I can verify that this works on Amstrad drx 890s if you do a software update.

Does not work on newer sky hd boxes, u will need an englist ftv card to make it permantly stay with the uk channel lineup. It has been done by sky on purpose to stop people cancelling their subs to get free to air.

where are you mcsween, might be someone near with uk card, yes they are on adverts ie but the ad mentions FREEVIEW and that is UK terrestial!! 20 euro plus 2 delivery is not too bad. The good thing about the card is you get ch5 hd.

Anyone know if this trick will also work on the multiroom box. Mother-in-law cancelled multiroom but still has sub for main box. So the trick would be handy to make the EPG on the second box more user friendly for her.

    Thanks

Main room...multiroom....they're all Sky boxes. Depending on age and model, what works on one will work on another. It's not the location that counts but model.

Yes but I believe that guy gets more sales when he puts Freeview on it even though he DEFINATELY knows the difference ;)

To get it defaulting to UK channels, remove the card, unplug the box from the power, hold down backup button on the top of the box, keep it pressed while connecting the power, and wait for the 3 lights on the front of the box to light up, then let go of the button.

As already stated this does not work on Sky hd boxes, this has been done by sky deliberately only way to keep it permanently locked is to use an ex Uk sky card or ftv card.
