Jees thought he'd resigned. Was a bit of a shock lol.

    Re-signed thank god.
Some great Irish riders in the pro peloton at the moment. A golden age. Could be 3/4 at le tour next year:)

    HaHa, fixed....

I'd be shocked if Sam Bennett didn't get a pro/conti or world tour contract too and Matt Brammeier should get picked up as well

Yeah Bennet for definite, bags of potential. Wonder how many will be at the Giro actually, probably a main target for a lot of the irish riders, hopefully those in new teams get a shot at it.

The champions jersey is surely worth something to Brammeir in his current situation, it would have been a great bit of free marketing over here for Sky, dunno if they've any spots left though...

So tough for cyclists at present.....so many without a contract...170 according to twitter

Shocked Juan Antonia Fletcha retired ....he attacked practically everyday in the Vuelta......shame as he had wanted to keep riding

Sammy Sanchez, Igor Anton, Andreas Kloden, Chris Horner without contracts
Thomas de Gent took an 80% pay cut ......tough times

I think the problem for the above mentioned athletes is their wages would be very high, all grand tour/ Olympic winners and the money in the sport isnt there anymore with teams finding it hard to get sponsorship, im sure if they all took 80% cuts like de gent they would find teams but if you were horner would you take a pay cut after the biggest win of your career? Tough times indeed

Horner has no contract? Even after the vuleta? I know time isnt on his side but surely having him in your team with his experience would be very beneficial?

According to a velonews interview with him he had agreed to join Alonso's new team until that fell through.

Contador was also in the pipeline according to rumors
