Minor Injury - who should I see about it

    Hi all,

Am fully aware that medical advice is not recommended, but what I'm looking for here is advice on what type of medical professional I should see.

Have a minor niggle that's been an annoyance for a couple of months. It doesn't prevent me training or racing, but now that its getting towards off-season, I'm thinking about having it checked out.
Its a small bump on the top of my foot, that I wouldn't describe as sore, but at times I do notice it (as a very slight twinge), and it doesn't seem to exist on my other foot.

My issue is who should I visit to have it checked out?

GP: - My current GP is not in any way au fait with sports and I wouldn't trust them to have a clue on what to do here, except refer me elsewhere, so am reluctant to waste €50 here.

Physio: - Would like to know what a physio can or can't do, can they refer you for a scan/x-ray, or do you need a doctor to get a referral.

Specialist: - I'd be willing to attend a sports injury or foot specialist if they were more likely to get a solution to it, just not aware of any.

Can anyone answer the question re the physio above, or recommend a good sports doc, physio or specialist in Galway city ?

There is a very good physio in Galway who is specialised in lower limb biomechanics. I have her number somewhere I'll send it on to you.
