    Hi All, first post here.

Anyway, did some searching online, settled on this: http://www.thomann.de/ie/takamine_eg523sc_westerngitarre.htm

Although I'm open to suggestions, and I'm not even final on it being a jumbo!

And I'm looking to see if any of the Dublin shops have it, I have checked X-Music and Music Maker's online stores and have seen no sign of it! Are there any other recommendations (shops online and otherwise) and would I be right in saying that they don't have close to their full stock advertised online for these places?

I have found it on Walton's site, but it's a fair difference in the price:

What are people's experiences on Walton's dropping their price (don't expect them to match it)?

    Appreciate any advice or suggestions!

Ask them, you've nothing to lose!
You could ask the guys in Dublin Guitar Centre if they have it in stock (their website is not very helpful!)
I know the Music Outlet in Swords used to match thomann prices, not sure if they do any more though, and they might balk at that size of a price difference!

Are you sure the models are exactly the same - sometimes the model number matches but the specs are different.

That model is now being discontinued to make way for new models which are out. The stock which most shops hold in stock at the moment were bought for more than the price that Thomann are selling. You can ask but I would think most shops will hold onto them until they are no longer available online and sell them then.

Ask the lads if they have it, if not ask X-Music could the order it in and they might be able to get you a deal on it.

Goodwins in Capel St had one last time I was in there, also Music Outlet in Swords had it in stock recently.

Shopped around and consoled myself with the idea I'll purchase a few bits here in Ireland, talking to a few shops and it just seemed unlikely I could get anyone to approach that price, I'll support Irish business as much as possible, but that was just too much of a difference for most of them.

Thanks for all the help though lads!

Needless to say Thomann were fairly good, they shipped it last Thursday and had it yesterday.

I'll have to drop into these two places, although the one in Swords would be tricky enough to get to (don't drive)!

Next door neighbour works in the supply business for this stuff and it never really occurred to me to talk to him, but he insisted next time that I should. (he could have got it for cost, though as you have mentioned cost for a lot of places was probably higher than what Thomann sold it for!) And I do recall my current electric amp was bought from someone he recommended to my dad years back!

    About the guitar:

Very happy with the purchase, sounds great, very bright and the action is perfect for me! The difference between the wood colours is hypnotic to me, the pale maple real stands out! The high frets on the top E string side look a bit off (as if they weren't sanded correctly at the 90 deg angle, hard to explain I'll have to post a picture, but that's the risk of buying online. It'd me more effort than it's worth to return and it doesn't effect the string.

Haven't used the pickup yet as the app will be purchased later on in the year so no opinion on them!

It's a beautiful guitar alright, enjoy it. Maybe post a pic of it in the pictures only thread
