I am planning to upgrade the wheels on my 2012 Cube peleton. Budget is up to €400. I have been told Fulcrum Racing 5's or 3's ( if can get them in budget) are the way to go. Bike is used for commuting during the summer but its mainly for long rides at the weekend. Any thoughts on the Fulcrum wheels or alternatives.

    probikeshop.com

mavic ksyriumelites at the moment for half nothing and theres a further 10% discount code knocking about too which brings the price of them down to 320 or there abouts, close to half price. 2012 model but who cares.

id consider no further, would just take the leap.

one other option ultegra c24 i think its ribble doing a great price sub 300 quid...

    Zondas, Zondas, Zondas!

I battled this very same thought process for the last couple of months and was looking at various wheels around the same budget. In the end after reading and talking to a good few people I went for the Zondas and can absolutely attest to how good they are.

I've done 2 x 200km cycles in the last couple of weekends (one which had over 2000m of climbing in it) and they have been brilliant, so much better than the stock wheels I had on my Specialized Allez Sport. They continue to roll and feel so light on the bike, so basically I'm chuffed with them

I grabbed an absolute deal from the guys at SwimCycleRun who really went out of their way to get me the wheels, so if you're looking around I would recommend these guys, they're Irish and cheaper than most of the sites around:

listen, i dont know is there a bigger fan of campag in ireland than myself but those wheels are just better in every way than zondas, there isnt comparison.

same weight, yes but id take mavic's for robustness, ease of replacement parts and hub quality any day.. not sure what rim wear is like on zondas but mavic ksyriums wear slow. im not shooting campags down by a long shot but when ksyriums at this this price..i would still consider the bike 24 c24 ultegras. 250 for them is also amazing when you consider full price on aksiums is that!

i can try find you that 10% code off a buddy if you decide to order!

I would definitely go with Zondas over those Mavics. There has been a number of similar threads on here in recent months and the Zondas have been the wheel most recommended, at that price.

try find a replacement spoke when it goes ping for a g3 campag at any reasonable price -_-

i still say mavic all day at that price having used both wheels

Mavic Ksyrium Elites for €370 with the Mavic tyres. They are the 2013 model.

    http://www.4thebike.de/laufraeder/rennrad/8756/mavic-ksyrium-elite

I emailed to confirm and just got confirmation back this morning. From what I can tell that's an absolute bargin of a price.

Just waiting for payday to order mine. Only downfall is the site is in German

The 2013 and 2012 Mavic wheels in the links above are the same weight (1550g for the pair), are there any other notable differences other than newness?

I've been looking for new wheels for my road bike, was just going to get some Askiums, but for another €110 I might stretch to those Ksyriums which I would never have considered at their usual price.

Bought Racing 3's a few months back, moving from Kysrium Equipe (braking surface on the rear wore out after about 10,000km and 2 winters), and find them pretty awesome for what that's worth.

The 2013 wheelset is named Ksyrium Elite S on most websites and seems to slightly lighter (30 gr) than 2012 models, also the 4the bike site does not specifically mention tyres, is it clear that they are included in price ?

In a way I hope my car fails it's NCT on Thursday, so I don't even have the money to contemplate new wheels :o

Hi. Bought these from 4thebike about 2 months ago. €380 including postage. Very happy with them. Delivery within 3-4 days if I can remember. Great wheelset though.

Great feedback. Thanks. Not to ask a stupid question, but as I can't get over the price difference. I was lookin at the r sys ones, are they genuine mavics do you think

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 342 ✭✭sann

I'm not too sure about the r sys ones but a mate bought the kyrsium elite s from lbs a week before I bought mine from 4thebike and he gave€550. We compared both sets and could find no difference. Mavic tyres, 2013 model, identical packaging etc. So to answer your question. Yes I think they are the real deal. Was tempted by the zondas aswell from them. Great price also. Santa!! Me thinks..

thanks a million for all of that. I just think how could you buy them from anywhere else. I have a set of Kysriums and paid 600 for them at LBS. Great wheel! I'll have to make the purchase now!
