painting kitchen chairs

    hi i'm undertaking the job of painting our kitchen chairs. i've preped them with esp after cleaning them. can i use any paint on them now? soft sheen (one i've bought) emulsion or doest it have to be satin. also should i prime or is the esp enough?

    Give em a coat of BIN primer

    Finish with two coats of satinwood or gloss.

    Do not use emulsion on them.

    +1 on the BIN primer. Did this last year on the chairs. 2 coats of satin and I then added 2 coats of varnish to toughen it.

    Yep. The primer, then the satinwood, then the varnish (satin). You can use clear floor varnish. Otherwise, they will chip easy, exposing the original wood, and they will look shïte. The varnish will just make the finish more durable.
