Hi everyone, just wondering can anyone tell me roughly what the starting salary for a wind turbine technician is in Ireland? For some of the bigger companies e.g. siemens, vestas, enercon etc.

    Thanks in advance

Vestas - around 55k, VHI, 25 days holiday. Technicians say they are happy here. Good management engagement. good on safety.
Siemens - around 40 - 42k, VHI, 25 days holiday. Techs are fairly happy there. OK management engagement. Good on safety.
Enercon - around 35K no VHI, 20 days holiday. Techs not happy. Poor management engagement. [mod edit]
GE - around 38K, 23 days holiday, not sure of VHI. Some techs happy, some not. [mod edit]

There are also the likes of B9, Lotus , opti-energy who would pay 30 -34k .Overtime and expenses can add up also.

    SSE will be looking soon.

Mod-note: I've removed some comments. PM the poster if you want details.

There's a course in LYIT on it. I used to work in this area, a few years ago they'd take on qualified electricians or mechanics but these days it seems a qualification is needed to break into the industry.

I honest to god would not work for the likes of Lotus or other third parties. They get contracts because they will do the job for cheaper than anyone else, and this obviously affects your pay and working conditions. They also don't abide by the same safety rules as the bigger companies, meaning some customers wouldn't even consider working with them currently.
