LBS Prices

I was priced some tyres & tubes today and while I was expecting the online retails to be cheaper I was surprised at how much so. At the moment I'm torn between buying online or locally but the LBS is nearly 50% dearer for one item and 15% for the other.

I get the whole higher costs of the LBS, the ability to get what I want today and being able to speak to someone but I was wondering what other people % threshold is?

Or to put it another way how much extra would you be willing to pay in LBS vs an online retail? Or would you at all?

It really depends on the product.

Percentage wise for average priced accessories (€100-200) about 10%.

But for bikes that cost thousands really any small percentage could be hundreds in the difference.

I generally find that for parts and components you can bargain the LBS, but for clothing etc. Its just too cheap online not to buy there.

And it really depends on LBS , one I use locally is nearly always cheaper than online ( non-sale items) . I browse on line or check out a couple of other shops to find what I want ( I never said what I need :). ) then go back to LBS and see what he can do for me, always cheaper than other shops and often as cheap as on line.
