    lads I'm looking for advice.

I've a 2011 Trek 1.1 and want to change from 8spd to 10spd, can you tell me how much will I expect to pay?

    Cheers.

Shouldn't cost too much, new cassette, chain shifters and possible rear mech, I've heard some people getting away with using a 9 speed rear mech as a 10 speed. Other boardsies will surly know if this can be done with 8 speed mech, but I doubt it. It just depends on what group set you want to change too, as also if your buying new or secondhand. Deco but a new chain anyways. If your interested I've a set if 10 speed tushes shifters ( 10 x2) for sale if your interested?

Cheapest 10sp for a full groupset is ~€330 + €10 shipping for compact tiagra. You need a number of tools and plenty of patiences to fit this yourself if you've not done it before.

I upgraded my 9sp campag xenon to 10sp veloce/xenon mix last week, for €131 all in, based on new shifters, cassette and chain, with a couple of spare links. This was based on keeping the existing cranks, derailleurs and brakes, and it seems to work fine. Not sure how well a 10sp chain would sit on 8 speed rings though, or how well the mechs would cope.

Worth asking around in the local bike shops, they could have a 2nd hand group set that could fit your needs that they might cut a deal on including fitting.

    Cheers lads.

I should have said I'm not mechanically gifted (tend to break things when I try and fix them) and what would a LBS charge me for the upgrade. Can you also recommend a LBS? Thx.
