New wheels, or not

Hey ho,
I've a Alu frame Canyon with Mavic Askium Race wheels. I'm wondering would a new wheelset be a good investment. Happy with the Alu frame, and don't really want to do carbon.
I dont race but do enjoy the unannounced race of a club spin.
Generally run about 80/100 spin at weekend. About 90kg.

Any opinions.

Some Carbon Wheels that make a nice whooshing sound are a great addition to any MAMIL bike.

All new stuff for your bike is a good idea.

Wheels will give you the best noticeable gains over any other upgrade able part. The aksos are good wheels but not exactly lightweight. €500 would get you a sub 1500g wheel set shaving over 400g of your bike weight and help with climbing and speed.

400g of weight saving, when Mamil weights 90kg is not huge, but I believe is the rotational mass that makes some difference.

I got a very nice pair built by Harry Rowland, Ramsgate, Kent.
Mavic Open Pro rims; Sapim spokes (36 spokes front and rear, double butted); Royce hubs. Cost £602 + €22 delivery to deliverme.ie Newry (for Newry to my door in Dublin).

What I like is the 36 spokes for strength, and the cartridge bearing Royce hubs. I have no idea what they weigh, but I would prefer a very true wheel instead of a 20 spoke lightweight (which I have already).

Wheels' upgrade is always welcomed but at the same time getting lost a few stones is more "wallet-friendly" with similar outcome uphill :P
I used to be 90-94 kgs, now around 81-83kg - that's the big difference!

They may make you feel 10% happier but they will only make you about 0.02% faster.
