Not sure I can help you exactly, but I just had a guy out measuring up for something similar in my house.

I want to fit a stove into the existing open fireplace in my sitting room - which has been opened up into the dining room, so it's a big, high room.

The smallest, neatest one that he had to offer (which had the necessary heat output, 6KW in my case) was a Ború stove - namely, the Fiachra. It's a fairly plain one, and is bigger than your 16"x16" - also bigger than my fireplace opening, but I'm resigned to having to get something to sit "outside" the fireplace IYKWIM.

He did have more attractive ones, can't remember what ranges they were from as he took the brochures back with him - but they were all a bit wider/deeper, so my preference is for the "modern" one.

As well as letting you know all that useless information, I'm also wondering if anyone out there knows much about that range, and if there's any other questions I should be asking.

The guy is from Paramount Distributors - a firm I know has been around practically for ever, and has a good name as far as I know. He recommended - insisted, actually - that I need a flexible flue liner as it's a very old chimney flue.

He also said I'd have to fit a metal plate to the floorboards in front of the stove - there must be a fireproof surface for a certain distance in front of the stove, and my hearth is a bit small for that.

If anyone has any further information or advice, I'd be very grateful - it'll be a lot of money if I do go for it, so I'd like to get it right!!!

(sorry if that's hijacking your thread, OP - but I suspect you're in the market for similar info)
