Parcel Motel option for eCommerce site?

I know there's a few Parcel Motel threads on the forum already, but they're mostly consumer based. This thread is for business/eCommerce owners.

Do any eCommerce owners offer the Parcel Motel option on their sites? I contacted Nightline last week re. delivery prices for parcels and they also forwarded the parcel motel prices.

€6.50 for the first PM delivery and €2.85 thereafter (I assume this is for the same customer). I also assume the customer doesn't have to pay the usual €3.50 fee then? I will be talking to Nightline on Monday anyway.

The motels seem to be increasing around the country all the time. I use the service myself and find it excellent.

I'm sure the option could easily be integrated into most payment gateways easy enough.

    Sorry, I meant Nightline.

I rang the rep from Fastway the other day, telling her the quotes I got from Fastway. She was totally confused. I meant Nightline! Always get them mixed up.

    Will edit now.

    No probs, I was confused.

It's an interesting idea, but the customer would still need a PM account anyway, so I dont really see the benefit (They could do it themselves).

For the amount of extra work and time required, I dont think its of benefit personally

The customer would need an account setup alright. I was thinking just let them add a note in the comment box at checkout stating they would prefer the Motel option. I would explain the Parcel Motel option in the 'Shipping & Returns' page.

All Nightline need is the customer's phone number, and they'll take it from there.

PM seems to be very popular, but is this for mostly buying from the UK to avail of cheaper delivery? Maybe it's also popular for convenient pickup i.e. not having to be a home waiting for a courier. It's not always possible to get parcels delivered to the workplace.

If nightline are willing to do the work, great. Personally, I only use mine for the uk delivery option, but I can see the other benefits

I only use it for UK delivery too.

In my previous job, I would have definitely used it for Irish deliveries though.

It'd be also useful for people working night shifts. You don't want a courier knocking on your door at 2pm if you're asleep in bed. It's also a bit cheaper than the conventional parcel delivery service.

    From the email I got:

    How does it work?
Use our API or online label printing platform.
All we need is your customer's phone number and nearest Parcel Motel location.
    We'll take it from there!

Thats interesting, I quite like that idea, thought it would be harder to implement.

If its not costing you to much, try it as an addition, no harm really.

I think the more options the better - delivery to the workplace, pick up in person etc. Might even deliver locally myself, with the hope they'll buy more goods.

My thoughts too, no harm in trying it out, especially if I'm using Nightline for parcel deliveries anyway. I'll just use the comment box for the PM option.
